We have a new and improved website at http://www.bsatroop557.org. We’re looking for someone to make updates to the website. The job entails the following:

1) Post newsletter articles and events and last minute notices through the WordPress content ,management system.
2) Keep the scroll images at the top of the home page current with current events / articles. Use (free) royalty free images from sites like http://www.morguefile.com/. The image size of the banners is 1884 x 531 — use image software like Gimp (free software) or Adobe Photoshop to resize / crop an image to make a new banner image.
3) Follow safety precautions when posting any emails in posts — use the obfuscation plugin to prevent spammers from easily obtaining an email address, or use a contact form on the website instead of posting email addresses.
4) Make backups of the website before making updates of plugins / wordpress. Keep wordpress and plugins updated regularly to prevent hackers / spammers from gaining access through known vulnerabilities.

Would be great if we could have a scout who wants to learn / grow their web skills. The current webmaster / creator, Linda Burnside is wiling to mentor / train someone to take over. If you don’t know how to do all of these things but want to learn and have some html and linux server experience, you can learn it on the job.
