An update on the flooding at Roaring Rivers State Park-on July 7th the park was closed due to flooding. The flood waters have receded and the park is open so as of right now, we’re good to go! We have an excellent opportunity coming up in a few weeks with a chance to learn the tricks and clues of trout fishing directly from Dept. of Natural Resources personnel. This outing/campout will take place the weekend of July 31 & Aug 1-2, and our destination is Roaring River State Park in Cassville, MO. The park includes a fish hatchery and dedicated fishing area where the scouts will receive instruction and tips from DNR staff….and the best part is…NO gear is needed. They provide the rods/reel and necessary tackle, etc. The guys just get to fish!! If you want to bring what you have that is fine too!
The state park is located southwest of Springfield, MO about 20 minutes north of the Arkansas border. Which brings us to the second portion of the trip…For part of the day on Saturday we will travel across the state line to Pea Ridge National Battlefield and hike their 7-mile historic trail? Before leaving on Sunday, we will have more fishing time in the morning. The trip is approximately 4 1/2 hour drive and we will have departure and return information coming out very soon.
Mark your calendars….Scouts AND Adults…this will hopefully be a great weekend to start off our summer!! Adults who would like to join us please contact Mr. Prichard or Mr. Harney ASAP….we need to work out travel details and file our trip documents with Council right away. Come join us if you can!!
